Karsa Institute

CBO

Overview

Founded in Palu on February 24, 2004, by 11 social and environmental activists, Karsa Institute has grown into a leading NGO in Central Sulawesi. It focuses on community empowerment, inclusive governance, and sustainable natural resource management.

Impact

We have restored 0.25 ha with Bioreeftek, training on catch logging, and introducing solar-powered ice production for better fish preservation.

Vision & Mission
  • We plan to continue its core programs while expanding coral reef restoration, increasing ice production capacity, and enhancing Bajo fishermen’s skills to improve catch value.

We're looking for

Karsa Institute faces funding and technology challenges but has established partnerships with the government and private sector. Key needs include offline-friendly digital catch recording and broader market access for fish products.
